Most manufacturer's will send you the data if you just call. Some manufacturers numbers vary because they have products that are made differently in defferent parts of the country.

Re: Superior vs Milgard vs ?
In Southern California both Superior and Milgard make good windows. Both have a plant in the area which is nice if you ever need service. Warranty is very similar. Can't go wrong with either brand.

Re: Thoughts on Superior Windows
Milgard won't warranty glass breakage that is attributable to acts of nature (fire, hurricane, etc), civil disorder, building settling, structural failure of walls or foundations or improper installation, storage or handling. I haven't seen alot of tempered glass actually crack.

Re: Xact Windows
The 1650 is glazed with Intercept from PPG. The window is overall is a cheaply made Sunrise knock-off. It's slightly better than most the stuff out of Depot and Lowes. My concern with MI would be the manufacturing tolerences and operation over time. I don't really like the shallow lift rail on the ...

Re: Xact Windows
MI Windows makes different windows for different parts of the country. The Capital line was junk and was sold in California. Capital is no longer available for us. I know other MI windows lines have changed with MI Windows buying the Certainteed plant. MI Windows now makes the Professional and Homem...

Re: what's a window cost?
I have seen alot of $10 labor per window installation charge or $25 per door installation charge. I think this is the best way since in California you actually do have installers charging only $10 a window and $25 a door. All they do is mark up the window price. I have seen the free installation num...

Re: Finding a quality product from a qualified installer
I believe one could write a book based upon the experience learned during a project to replace my old wooden windows with new vinyl double glazed windows. Living in So. CA it wasn't necessary to install the same windows one might require in Montana or Michigan. The process was disturbing to say the...

Re: Can you recommend a good black vinyl window??
Both Marvin fiberglass, Infinity and Integrity qualify for the ETC. I believe the Integrity has a standard black color. Marvin Infinity does have black. Infinity has recently come out with a block frame 3 1/4 depth to be used as a insert in existing block frame windows. Black color would be on the ...

Re: Certainteed windows vs. Amerimax
The Certainteed window lines in California will be not made after Aug 09. Plygem is going to use their Insulant Builders line as their buiders grade window and the Great Lakes as their good window. The Plygem Sommerton and Plygem Brynmawr can be bought right now really cheap. Homeowners take this in...

Re: Atrium and NuView
Has anyone heard of or had Atrium or NuView windows? NuView is one of the Magic Windows. They offer slide n hide screens. I live in Los Angeles and will be installing 9 windows. (5 of 70 x 46, 2 of 47 x 58, 1 of 58 x 42 and 1 of 94 x 46) How much should I expect and what brands are good? Atrium is ...

Re: Milgard vs Anlin vs Atrium/Magic in SoCal
I would look at Simonton and Amerimax. I would stay away from Atrium and Magic. Milgard Tuscany is a good window. I rank them this way for Southern California: 1. Simonton 2. Amerimax 3. Milgard Tuscany 4. Anlin These windows all have good features and benefits. Dealer prices vary greatly so get a f...
