Schuco in-line sliders

Hugefire- I don't want to mislead anyone. I was an employee of Schuco, not a dealer. At the time I saw the prints for the "new" inline slider I was not working for Schuco. I was working for them when they made the comments about discontinuing the current inline based on field problems. Goo...

Schuco in-line sliders

The Schuco in-line slider in it's current form is problematic for many. Some homeowners have had no problems with the window but many others have. Royal Technologies in Toronto, Canada, who extrudes the vinyl lineals for the inline, had worked up a redesign of the inline almost three years ago, whic...

I heard this morning from a Schuco dealer, that Edgar had called from the plant yesterday. Edgar told him that Schuco was sending out a notice this week that their attempts to sell the business failed. They will be shutting the vinyl plant down either in June or July, permanently.

Skydawwgy, After working on a Soft-Lite re-engineering program for Products, I would say they are very good. The real negative I have heard, from several dealers as well as some past and present Soft-Lite sales people, is that customer service is less than satisfactory and can be problematic. This d...

Run as fast as you can from Schuco. The latest word on the street is that the deal with Four Seasons feel through and they are in new talks to sell the company to someone else. An inside source said that if they did not sell by a certain date they would liquidate the assets. I also heard from one of...

I must caution you that Homeowner installation of these windows even by the most seasoned "do it yourselfer" can be problematic. There is a saying used in the industry that a window "is only as good as the installation". There are so many things that can be ommitted or done wrong...

Simonton uses a 1/2" stainless steel constant force "coil" balance on their 7500 series window. It relies upon the energy stored in the coil (similar to energy stored in a spring) to provide the assist for lowering and raising the sash. Friction is generally not relied upon for assist...

NFRC requirements in Wisconsin

I need some backing from some of you who are familiar with Wisconsin building codes as it relates to replacement windows. Is it not true that Wisconsin requires replacement windows to carry an NFRC label on each window installed AND it has to meet a certain level (.32 Southern and I think .30 North?...

Gorell 5305 a good choice. We have been installing that window for about 8-Years now. A note to consider, Gorell will be updating this model in the spring or summer of 08 and if you want ALL your double-hung windows to match perfectly get them ALL done at the same time. yes, this is what we have be...

I can only tell you that given the same situation with one of our customers, we would be happy to cancel the order if we could. I would order my customer a new door of their choice from another manuf. and install it with no addition charge for labor. I'd also apologize to my customer and thank them...
