One last query, I say with great optimism. This afternoon I began the process of taking down my miniblinds in prep for tomorrow's installation. Thot it would be easy, but I can't seem to break the code. They were installed for me and don't seem to work on the same principle I'm familiar with in the ...

O BOY, O BOY, O BOY!!! My SoftLite Imperial LS windows are being installed on March 12th! I'm reading here about installation problems so I'll be as prepared as possible for avoiding them. If any of you have any tips or could link me to threads you think I should read, I'll be most appreciative. TIA...

I don't know what style Tracos I have, but I do know I don't like them and wish I could afford to get them replaced. They're very loose in the frames, embarrassingly loud to raise and lower, and the 4 (of 14) that catch the afternoon sun all lost their seals years ago. I mentioned them to the salesm...

My cancellation letter got received today and I got a call asking why. I explained that the 3+ hr "free estimate" apptmt wore me down, that I'd not intended to buy from the first person I spoke with, and that I'd learned the Quantum 2 is a "very high end" window. I said I'd educa...

I went with the Imperial LSs from The Window Man today :) Instead of sliders, they'll be 3 dbl hungs, same size as my currents so my shades will still look good. I hope I'll be smiling as big after installation, and wanna thank y'all for your good advice, new and old. FWIW, TWMan isn't expecting Sch...

Horizontal sliders in general are poorly designed in my opinion... Inherently, they tend to allow more air or water infiltration even if installed correctly and usually don't slide or glide very well... ... Your comments on the slider efficiency are dead on in this case... What about in the case of...

Had a chat with TWMan this evening. He says Schuco and Imperial LS are about the same cost and both quality windows. I quizzed him on his recent experience with Schuco's quality and warranty. He says he's surprised to hear I've read complaints, that he's heard none. After reading here, I'm leaning t...

I second that recommendation of The Window Man in Fairfax. ... The installer did an excellent job... I surprised myself yesterday by signing a contract when all I'd intended was a first estimate. It's for a 3-window living room unit, Kensington's Quantum 2. I have 2 more days to cancel, so I'm doin...
