I wound up going with a smaller window company - someplace local to me in the Philly area.
I'm very happy with my windows, and it is good to find contractors that did such a good job. I hope you find someone local to you who can do as well for you!
Good luck!

Re: Universal Windows Direct. Don't be fooled like I was!!
Beware of the company that comes in and offers you windows for $6000 and when you tell them that they are to high offers you a price that is $1300 cheaper because you will let them use your name as a reference. Always check to see that they are a member of the BBB. They told us that they were backe...

I can assure you Mould(Mold) is NOT killed or removed with ANY amount of bleach. ALL bleach does is well..........bleach mold. When the bleach dries, the Mold uses the bleach as food. Just cause the mold may have lighten due to the application of a bleach solution doesn't mean the mold spores are N...

My experience with window shopping so far....
When I first started looking for windows, I made the mistake of meeting with places like Home Depot and Andersen Renewal first. Quickly, I went to the internet to figure out what I needed and other companies to offer windows in my area. Some companies are not even represented on the internet!! So, I...

Actually, I prefer a 33% solution of bleach (it is what we use in my scientific labs to remove any potential hazardous materials). Although this should effectively kill the mold, it will not remove it. You should wait about 24 hours after spraying, and then try to clean up the residue. If however yo...

It looks like your Bradco dealer in that area isn't selling too many Simontons. If you had walked into a couple of supply houses down here in Delaware the experienced staff would have given you about 5 business cards of very good private contractors that do windows at reasonable rates. There is sti...

Hasn't anyone impressed you yet? What products have you seen so far and what are the numbers? Part of your job is to interview contractors and window dealers so that you may see who offers the best value so that you may make a well informed choice. When we go out to look at project we also are inte...

thanks for your responses
I have contacted four seasons but not heard back. Based on reviews (and availability), my next bet would be the Simonton 5500. I have limited resources, and it appears to be a good window. Although I saw a sample with home depot, I'll probably go through an independent person to get a better price (...

Which philadelphia dealer did you go with?
Hi kellsbells. I read some of your posts, and I am also in philadelphia, and interested in getting a quote on schuco windows! Which company did you go with? (do they have a website?) and, if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you for what size of job? Let me know, I'm very interested. Th...
