Re: Milgard Tuscany VS PlyGem 200
Ply-Gem 200 series is the middle of the road offering. Milgard Tuscany is their upper end offering in vinyl products. Not a fair comparison. IF the pricing is about equal, I would get more quotes, as I do not see how that is possible. Plygem Premium is as close to the Tuscany that Plygem can offer. ...

Re: Nuimage Windows in Anaheim, CA
I can not help with the article. With the extra labor you mentioned, the divide by 12 rule is not going to work in your project. Just follow up with your due diligence and ensure your contract specs out the Brand name, Model name, all options you want in your windows. Spell out all labor.

Re: Nuimage Windows in Anaheim, CA
Not familiar with Republic. Like Ply-Gem (West Coast ) But using your $5000 figure or any other total cost just divide by 12 and you have $416.67. Depending on your window sizing and options this could be somewhat average cost for better brands offered in this area. Remember, check out Yelp, Angies ...

Re: Nuimage Windows in Anaheim, CA
Not a big fan of the 'box' stores as they can offer lower end products when it comes to windows. Try and get a quote for Simonton or Superior windows. Respected names here in the area. They will have a budget line that you would be interested in. In my experience, low price and no name products shou...

Re: Nuimage Windows in Anaheim, CA
I am in the Los Angeles area. I have not heard of Nuimage myself, but did read the same article. I would check the BBB for a start. Yelp for better info. Check the NFRC web site for more info, if listed, on their product performance. Their site did show that they used another name. Go to the CA.gov ...

Re: Need help choosing window
In S. California it is the Impressions, might be re-named in different regions. I like the Simonton for the cam locks and the standard low-e3/argon, but Milgard makes a good product here also.

Re: Green World Vinyl Windows Venetian series
Venetian is the upper offering of the GreenWorld line. Sturdy window for a BUDGET offering. Amerimax and Simonton are in the better class of products. The Simonton from the Orange store is only sold to that company. Simonton dealers would offer the 7300 or 7500 series.

Re: color choices for windows
Might I ask you to tell the board what color you are wanting for the exterior? What color for the interior? Also can be helpful if the board knows what city/ area your project is in. Jeld-Wen vinyl = Quality? You might want to look around some more.
Good Luck in your project.

Re: new to windows in CA, Los Angeles
Can Anlin deal with your egress problem on the 1 window? I agree that even though I do not deal with that company, as I understand it, they are a good choice for your products.

Re: new to windows in CA, Los Angeles
Your 45 inch or so window will NOT meet egress, to narrow. I have not heard anything bad of Anlin, and understand it to be a solid product. Ply-Gem 200 series will serve you well, IMO. Anlin will make you a window that will meet egress for the 45 inch, so you might check them out. This is some sort ...

Re: new to windows in CA, Los Angeles
In S. California, Great Lakes is not offered. Ply-Gem bought the old CertainTeed window line years ago. IMO it is a good mid range window, but I live in the land of sliding windows and weep hole covers.

Re: new to windows in CA, Los Angeles
Egress is VERY important here in CA. If your project is inspected by your city, and if at least 1 unit in each bedroom does not meet the 5.7 SF requirement of clear opening, someone is buying new products again. What city are you in ? Your city web site will have the egress requirements. The Ply-Gem...

Re: new to windows in CA, Los Angeles
I am in the Los Angeles area. In my opinion you should start by forgetting the HD and Sears sales pitch. The other names you listed are not really familiar. As a start, for every company that you do business with you should require: Make and model, what type of glass ie. Low-e2 or Low-e3 as you have...
