Do not fool around- call their service dept. A bowed window sash means there is alot of pressure at the locks and meeting rail. It will undoubtedly get worse. This has been a problem in the industry for years and the installers and manufacturers will probably tell you to wait a while as the weathers...

I am going to try to say this without annoying the window shoppers here- don't take this the wrong way. First off I should say I have never heard of Tr-State and do not work for them. I have been watching these boards for a couple of years now and on occasion will try to give people help if I know t...

Rick, All the larger companies (including Shuco) will tend to have more customer complaints. It is simply a numbers game. The small manufacturers that produce small quantities should have fewer problems because they make a fraction of the # of windows compared to the big guys. I am not making light ...

I was very impressed with the quality of Paradigm windows. It is made in Portland, Maine and distributed by Applicator Sales in New Hampshire through contractors only. It is very good quality but nothing fantastic for insulation value (u-.31). A good triple pane in your area would be the Simonton 98...

Statewide is a franchise, Uniframe is a good window. The selling price seems awfully high. Even in the Boston market that I work in that is considered one of the most expensive. I would call them back to offer $4,000. They won't take it, but let them come back and settle for a price around $5,000. I...

be careful with choosing contractors from the yellow pages- there are some good companies and some bad. You are really taking a leap of faith that way. I would suggest you speak to friends or family and ask who they used. You can also call the better business bureau for a referral. The home shows ar...

I am very familiar with Windows America- !st of all I would ask to see proof of a u-.26 window that uses double pane glass. To my knowledge, a double pane, low-e, with argon and super spacer will bring to approx. .30 on my windows. I don't think krypton will bring it down to a .26. I also would seri...

Most contractors will insulate between the buckframe and new window which is accesible when removing the inside stops- it could be air coming between the rough opening and buckframe which is NOT accesible unless the casings are completely pulled off. If this is the case, it would be neither the inst...

I am a big fan of Soft-Lite as can be seen on previous posts, HOWEVER I would RUN for the Soft Lite Barrington Series. It is their economy line- it especially makes no sense to put triple pane glass in that frame. We are the distributor for their premium series in Massachusetts. Please let me know i...
