Re: Simonton 5500 Help
Phantom: you need accessory # WHPLA They may know it as the internal weep plug or Chim block My installer came by and after a couple of minutes he figured out where they went. I believe he just popped the top trim piece on each side of each window (upper sash area) and put the foam insert on top of...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
Bill: I've sent the info to my installer. He will check with his Simonton rep and get back to me. Integra, Randy, WOW: I'm not sure if you are speaking to me or to each other. Since my windows are already installed, I only mentioned the insulation because I had seen so many posts that refer to the f...

Re: Simonton 9800 Help
Phantom Simonton has a small foam insert that can be placed into the balance channel that serves as an additional point of weather-stripping and will stop the small amount of air you are referencing. The windows look nice I received the below note from my installer this morning: "As for the fo...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
My new Simonton 9800 windows installation with the Sensor glass - 366 package was completed yesterday (2/17/10). They look awesome, see the attachment. Some of you may have recognized that I have a big case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I may have an issue. In the attachment, I have a red ...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
That's why I recommended looking at it through a door or window opening. It doesn't look as dark as it does when you have it on the kitchen table and gives a much better idea of what you can expect after installation. Thanks, Sky, you were right. I followed your advice and it showed me that I don't...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
As long as you trust the installer, it sounds like a pretty good deal. Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I'm going to try to post a picture of the sample glass that my contractor brought over. I don't know how it will look but hopefully it'll give other folks something of an idea of what it lo...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
The 9800 has all the same glass packages as the 5500. In the 9800 Sensor 366 would be my choice ( 1” double strength Super Spacer Low-e 366) The Sensor 366 is $10.00 per a window list less than the Solar System AR The Solar System glass packages were designed for southern climates to reduce solar h...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
I asked my contractor if he could get a sample of the two glasses in question, Low E 366 and the AR (soft coat on both interior panes). The 366 glass really drops the SHGC.
Thanks folks.
Thanks folks.

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
Thanks, Skydawggy: I got that that number online. My contractor has given me the following prices so I have something real to go by now. Quote 1: (5500 Series) 14 DH windows with the ETC Starter 366 glass package for about 5790. (Includes 2 more (16 DH total) basic windows for the garage.) Quote 2: ...

Re: Simonton 5500 Help
Ok, you've got me interested in the Low E3 366 glass but I also remain interested in the ProSolar Soft Coat Low E Glass with 2 Surfaces of Low E Glass also. Do you have the Visible Light Trasmissible (VT?) values for the Solar System AR (argon gas) with the 2 surfaces of Low E Glass and the Super Sp...
