Re: Patio Door Replacement
Sorry Dave, my mistake on the Argon in the patio door. I forgot that the patio door with mini-blinds has low-e only due to the design requirement. I guess I was thinking of the Soft-Lite Element windows a bit when I posted. That mistake aside, the Sunrise patio door is an excellent door and should b...

Re: Okna 800, Softlite Elements, Simonton 9800 - Splitting Hairs
noobs - We just recently had ten windows (eight DH and two casements) and one patio sliding door replaced. Went with Soft-Lite Elements on the windows, and Sunrise for the patio slider. We looked at Gorell, Okna, and Sunrise for the windows. My wife didn't like the aesthetics of the Gorell or Sunris...

Re: Patio Door Replacement
We recently had Window4U install a Sunrise sliding patio door, along with 10 Soft-Lite Elements windows here in Champaign-Urbana, IL. The Sunrise door has Ultra U glass with Argon, and mini-blinds. It's an absolutely beautiful door, and very well engineered. Suggestion... contact Window4U here on th...

Just Purchased Soft-Lite Elements - Question
I am having Dave H. install new Soft-Lite Elements windows, a new Sunrise patio slider, and Mastic Quest Signature siding on our split level home. Although not a window-related question, it's a very important one, and I need some help from the pros. We are planning to go with Mastic Ventura Hidden V...

Re: Patio Doors?
I recently went through the research, and eventual purchase of windows, patio slider, and vinyl siding for our home. The windows in the "final cut" were, in alphabetical order: Gorell, OKNA, Soft-Lite, and Sunrise. We went with the Soft-Lite Elements window, but our contractor who carries ...

Re: What type of window should I pick?
After spending the last few weeks researching, and looking at, replacement vinyl windows. We chose the Soft-Lite Elements. We considered Alside, Gorell, OKNA, Sunrise, and Soft-Lite. I liked the specs of the Soft-Lite Elements, and my wife liked the looks. We went with the triple-pane, low-e, argon ...

Re: OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
FWIW... we are going with the Soft-Lite Elements window (8 double-hungs and 2 casements) with the Triple-Pane Ultra-S Glass package, and Sunrise for the patio slider. Thanks to Dave H. for all of his valuable input, dedication, and hard work. And, thanks to all others who provided input on this. It ...

Re: OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
Yes, perhaps I am over thinking this. OTOH, for a consumer looking at replacement windows for the first time, this market can be extremely confusing. For example, some manufacturers websites are excellent, others almost provide no information at all. Personally, I like to research products, and get ...

Re: OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
If the casements that you are replacing are 48" wide, I'm thinking that are now twin or triple units. Sounds like you would be putting in twin mulled double hungs units possibly? This wouldn't be a problem with Sunrise, however since you are going to be watching for this issue under a microsco...

Re: OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
i have been selling okna for years, and for the money there is absolutely nothing better. we have been in business for 92 years and would never risk what we have built for any manufacturer unless we were sure they are solid. The issue with WindowWizards was just that - an issue with Window Wizards ...

Re: OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
Thanks Mike. Following up on the patio slider... thanks for the info on the low-e coating. Do they use Argon in patio doors with mini-blinds, or do they omit the Argon? I've heard differing stories on this. Re. the wide double-hung windows and Sunrise - thanks. We have two 48" wide casements on...

Re: OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
Thanks to those that replied. I know some may not wish to answer such a question, especially if they are authorized dealers for these manufacturers, as it may jeopardize their relationship. One thing that is confusing about Sunrise is their website. On the Sunrise website, they only discuss the &quo...

OKNA vs. Soft-Lite vs. Sunrise - Best Manufacturing QC
I'm "rounding the bend" on making a decision on 10 double-hung duo-pane vinyl windows, thanks to all of the pros on this forum. I've reduced the number in the final cut to three manufacturers: OKNA, Soft-Lite, and Sunrise. The window models considered among these manufacturers are: OKNA - ...

Re: Soft-Lite Elements and Sunrise Vanguard - Central Illinois
We're undecided on the interior color of the vinyl windows. We have a few dark oak accents in some parts of this split-level (4 levels of living area), but the current wooden duo-pane double-hungs and casements are stained a walnut color, and all of the sills and/or trim, and all baseboard, are also...

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise
moneyet - I talked to the Sunrise guy on the phone. Didnt get an official estimate on TP but he said it would be $75-$100 more per window. I realize now that the quote was for 6 double hung & 2 double-sized picture windows & I didn't clarify the exact price. But, loosely it would come in b/...
