Re: Vinyl Window Sill Bowed Up
Thank you Mr. Delaware Mike sound like good advise, especially the part about installing the screw by hand with screw driver. Those screw drill/drivers can get addictive, but nothing gives you better feed back than a good old manual screw driver. Thanks again

I am in the process of installing a 48in x 80in single hung Jeld Wen Premium (3 1/4" frame thickness) single hung window and the sill is bowed up about 1/4". The bow in the seal is present with the lower sash closed or open. When installed the window sits directly on the floor, which is co...

Re: Unanswered 2' x 6' single hung vinyl windows question?

OK, I posted this question in the "Do it yourself" section and no one seems to want to answer the question. They are Jeld Wen premium, I know what the manufacture recommends, but I want to know what the installers think and do. Please give your opinion. I am installing 2' x 6' single hung ...

2' X 6' Single Hung
I am installing 2' x 6' single hung vinyl windows and have been installing shims at six different spots on each side. Is this enough? They are spaced about 12 inches apart. Too Many? Or too Little?

Re: Shims Under Window Seal
Yes I mean "SILL", sorry I new something did not look right about the spelling. "Sill adapter" meaning the piece of vinyl that snaps on the bottom of the window to compensate for the angled brick. Thanks

Shims Under Window Seal
I read on this site that someone puts shims long ways under the seal at each corner to support the window, if they use a sill adapter. Do you put spray foam under the window sill or backer rod?

I am not sure of which window is best, but I went with the Jeld Wen. I ordered them from Home Depot and its been a PITA. One window took 3 orders to get it right, every time the windows came in damaged. On another order 3 sliders they sent all three windows were sliding the wrong direction. Another ...
