Thanks for all of the info. Yeah, I think his name was Roger. I am still debating about what type of sliders. I spent the weekend ripping mouldings off of some of my windows, and sliders, and sealing around them, and replaing the mouldings with new, more comtemporary ones. I think they look nicer. I...

At this point, I am still on a fence between the Andersen French Wood Gliders (I love the look, and they would go great with our house), and the Schuco's with the R-10 glass pack. So on one hand there is styling, versus energy efficiency. I know you are very high on Schuco's but I can't believe that...

He showed me both. I had seen the Schuco before. The Schuco has an impressive glass pack. The Accu Weld sample had the panes mounted into the vinyl frame, not even a glass pack. He was telling me that the Accu Weld had the same bells and whistles that the Schuco did but had 2 panes instead of 3. I t...

He does have the Schuco. He showed me the sample with the triple pane-krypton filled glass pack. But he was pushing the Invision 6500 series windows, saying they were Schuco's B grade windows, and that due to the cheap electricity costs in our area (4.5 cents per KWH in the winter, about 3 cents in ...

When I got home I looked at the guy's card. It says FJB on it. They must be who BJ's contracted with?

The guy came from BJ's Home Improvement (through BJ's Wholesale). He claimed that the Invision windows were Schuco's B grade window and came with the same guarentees and stuff. I was expecting a hard sell, and was going to throw him out if he tried it but he never did. I had to laugh, the guy was dr...

Accu-weld Invision 6500 windows? Versus Schuco?

I filled out a card at the local wholesale club for estimates on Schuco windows. The salesman guy came by tonight and he was recommending Invision 6500 windows made by Accu-Weld. He said that they are part of the Schuco company. Is that true? Are the Accuweld windows any good? I am leaning to the Sc...

Re: Chevy or a Lexus...

TPS glazing is superior to all in longevity, performance, and gas retention. I understand the the glass package is great. I don't dispute that. But the glass package has to go into something. I want to know about the quality of the rest of the door. I don't care about Schuco windows. I am only inte...

Chevy or a Lexus...

I would choose a Honda which is what I drive. I like Hondas because they last a long time if properlly maintained. Chevys just wear out too fast. I hope to get about a 500,000 miles out of my current Civic. A well maintain Lexus might last too, but a Honda gives more bang for the buck. I want a door...

Doors

He recommended replacing all the windows, but frankly it wouldn't be cost effective to do it. The payback would be too high. I have Andersen Windows, Velux skylights, and Peachtree Sliding Glass Doors. The 30 year old Peachtrees are in poor shape, and leak alot between the panels. And one door has s...

Schuco Dealer

The place that I did my audit through is named KA Environmental Systems. The consultant is from CB Consultants. From what the consultant is saying is that the NY Energy Smart program recommends either Alside or Schuco as these two brands are the only ones that meet the criteria they set. I visited t...

Andersen versus Schuco sliding glass doors?

I want to replace my four sliding glass doors (30 year old Peachtree's - they leak air between the panels like a sieve). I like Andersen, but the guy from the NY Energy Smart program is pitching Schuco. I have done some searches and read a lot of good things about Schuco windows. I love the look and...
