I knew I wanted the Simonton and was looking specifically for that brand, so I did not look at the Harvey's. When I went into the showroom, I do recall that Jim took me over to a Harvey window on display and showed me something about it that was not as good as the Simonton. He was not showing me thi...

Just wanted to finish off this thread. We ended up going with the Tim Keddie install. We had our windows installed yesterday and today. We ended up with 11 Simonton 5500 Reflection double hung, 1 Simonton ProFinish Double hung, and 7 Simonton ProFinish sliders. The 11 5500s we installed are Low E, A...

Went to the Tim Keddie showroom. They had the Simonton 9800 and 5500 on display as well as some Harvey DH. The window rep was in when I went which was a bonus for me. He quickly talked me out of the woodgrain interior, saying he would sell me it if I wanted but that I would not be happy with it long...

Vinyl "wood" interior choices

I visited the showroom of a contractor in my area (southern NH) dealing in Simonton windows (I am leaning toward the 9800 or 5500 DH). I met with the window rep for the contractor, who was very professional and informative (not pushy, stating that they are neither the cheapest nor the most expesive ...

Simonton 5500 Online price quote here

Found this with google from a company called Finteriors in St Louis. I know nothing about the company but the price quote function of their website may be useful. They certainly have a very detailed description of the 5500 model, which appears to be the only one they sell. Rick Link: http://www.finn...

Nice question about the energy credit Brian. If you don't get an answer in this topic you should start a separate one. The energy credits available this year and next are a big incentive.

About $80.00 per a window more for the 9800, you should upgrade both windows to Super Spacer

What should an installation estimate detail?

When I get an estimate for my window job, what information should I expect to get on that estimate? Specifically, will an estimate list the cost of the basic window, the cost of specific upgrades to the window (if any), the cost to install the window, and the cost of any repairs needed or additional...

Simonton 9800 vs 5500 cost difference???

I am wondering if someone here could tell me the difference in cost between these 2 models. I'm not asking install cost or cost with options, just average wholesale price (what the contractor/installer will pay the distributer) cost difference between 2 similar size DH windows (basic models without ...

Thanks Ten Ts, I ran into someone at work who had favorable comments on a window installed by Tim Keddie contracting (Nashua). They install Simontons (as well as Harvey and Trimline (? haven't heard of this one)), which seem to fit our cosmetic as well as performance needs. I'm going to go by their ...

Mass Window Guy, I found a Simonton distributer in Manchester. ABC Supply Co. I've taken a look at the Simonton web site and both the 9800 and 5500 look like they would be nice windows and the color options fit our needs. I have seen recommendations to upgrade these models to a "super spacer&qu...

Sorry to hear there may be no shuco dealers around here, seems that is by far the highest recommended window on this forum.

Thanks for the Simonton 9800 recommend. Appreciate the reply.

Replacement Windows Southern NH?

Just starting to seriously investigate replacement windows for our home, I feel fortunate to have found this site! Unfortunately my fears of having to endure strong arm sales tactics and wade thru attempted rip-offs seem to be real after reading some of the posts in these forums. Anyone in my area h...
