okna basement windows
Hey all, I am back after having replaced most of the windows in my house with OKNA 500s, I'm looking to replace the rest. 1. Basement windows. What model number should I be looking at to macth my 500s? Basement is block construction. Secondly, how should I replace them? I asked my installer and he s...

Re: exterior doors and storm doors
$2k+ was the price just for the door. Anyhow I went with therma tru with the options mentioned by the windownerd. Thanks for that! Door+ larson storm door came out less than half of provia door. I'm sure provia doors are worth it and I'll consider them at my next home. Like i said, didn't want a doo...

Re: exterior doors and storm doors
i dont want either extreme. Is there no middle ground? I don't think the provia quote was out of line, I just don't feel like that door is worth that much. I also don't want my door to be nicer than the rest of the home.
BTW I liked the provia 419 signet class door with st jane glass.

Re: exterior doors and storm doors
Hey all, I now need to make a decision on front entry door. I got a quote for provia and it is too expensive. A 36" steel door for about $2k (just door uninstalled). So my 2 options were home depot door or provia and they are both out. Is there a middle ground? Or are the other options not wort...

Re: bay window question
All manufacturers have that option. What model the center picture window will be is dictated by what the flanking windows are specified as. If the flankers will be casements (in the case of Okna that is a 700 series), the center would be a casement picture. If the flankers are double hungs, the cen...

Re: bay window question
Thanks all for the responses. Since the bay window is out, I started looking at my options. The window opening is about 113" wide by 51" high. Contractor mentioned that i could either get three windows (2 double hung and 1 fixed) or get 1 large window with all three windows preattached. My...

Re: exterior doors and storm doors
they called me back and I am definitelt priced out of provia. Is HMI and homeguard similar in price? The dealer i spoke to only worked with provia so I'll have to find another.

Re: bay window question
thanks. I forgot to take a picture but I got one from google maps. Hope the quality isnt too terrible.
I don't have an overhang. I'll have to measure how much space I have but I'm guessing its around 2-3 feet. How much do Okna bay windows protrude out?

Re: exterior doors and storm doors
thanks all! I'll take a look at provia, HMI and homeguard. Looking at provia right now and I like the 430 with clear glass. This is for a side door, so it doesn't have to be fancy. I'm looking for door suppliers in my area now to ask about pricing. I'm probably priced out of this door but it's worth...

exterior doors and storm doors
I know this is a window discussion board, but I wanted to know for you guys who are concerned about things like air infiltration and such, what brand doors and storm doors do you get? What storm doors do you get? I went to a lumber place here (Dykes lumber) and they recommended thermatrue or jelden ...

bay window question
Hey all, I have 3 windows in my livingroom. All together. 1 large in the middle (does not open). With two double hungs on the sides. I will provide a picture later if needed. I wanted to replace it with an OKNA bay window. I spoke to a contractor and he said he would not recommend it as I don't have...

Re: window pricing and installer
My installer is cheap because he gets paid under $25 an hour. He is pretty good but I'm not sure I trust him with a bathroom window. Look like I am sticking to the okna 400 series deluxe window. Next question I have. Do I need tempered glass? The window is right on the wall of the long side of the t...
