The commission rate I posted is based off of information from my friend (Southern California).

He told me an average house job (10-15 windows) gets around $1000-$1500.

Since this is a smaller job, I just guessed at the commission.

OK I know it's a late reply, but I have a family friend in the business. He says cost on Bryn Mawr II is about $3.30 per United Inch. This means his material cost is around $1200. A "reasonable" 35% markup would bring the cost to $1850. Add in $200 for shipping, $500 for installation, and ...

I don't think they sell this product down here in L.A., but I'll throw my quotes in the mix, just for comparison.

I am shopping for LAMINATED windows. and I've been quoted as low as $600 each (average) to over $900 each (average).

Can you apply tint film over double pane windows?

Is it acceptable to apply tint film on double pane windows? Does this void the warranty or anything?

Are there any negative ramifications?

How effective is security window tint (6 mil) compared to laminated windows?

Re: laminated glass

I just read back thru the original post and I missed a comment the first time thru it..."laminated glass is more break resistant". Actually, laminated glass is not more break resistant than "ordinary" glass. Laminated glass will stay-in-place if it is broken, but it is not inher...

I appreciate the feedback. Taking the warranty out of the equation, can anyone share any information or insight they might have about using laminated glass for security purposes? I know there are lots of people who use hurricane glass on the east coast. This stuff is pretty similar, except most hurr...

Laminated Windows - Simonton v. Milgard v. HouseArmor

I want laminated windows for my house for security reasons. The three most reasonable quotes I've received have been for a Simonton 7300, Milgard Classic, and Window Factory's HouseArmor. Simonton and Milgard sell their products for sound attenuation, not security. Still, a laminated window is alway...
