That's the way we do it too. After a positive test for lead paint.

Re: Windows in North Jersey
It's a fairly new product and not one suitable for most Virginia houses due to our warm Summers. It was really developed for homes in the northern regions. As far as sound reduction, don't waste your money on triple pane for that reason. While triple pane will reduce higher sound frequencies, it doe...

Re: Windows in North Jersey
Triple pane glass does nothing to reduce sound. In fact it can actually have a slightly higher sound transmission rating than double pane. If you want a higher solar gain, you will want double pane glass with 2 coats of loE. The Cardinal 270 or PPG Solarban 60 would be your best choice. I'm not sure...

If you get a quote from a Simonton Dealer, have him base it on the Reflections 5500/Prism Platinum with the 366 glass.

Re: VantagePointe 6200 Series vs. Window World 4000Series
Iirc the Vantagepoint 6200 is the same as the Simonton Reflections 5300/Prism Bronze and the WW 4000 is the Alside Excalibur. I would contact a local Simonton dealer for a competitive quote. Simonton is definitely the better window but I think you should make sure you are getting the best price. The...

Re: Okna Elegante Patio Door/Starmark Windows
I'll try one more time. What size are the doors? What size are the windows? What glass packages are you looking at? What are your existing windows made out of? Does it include grids? What's involved in the installation? What year was your house built? What is the installer using for insulating the j...

Re: Okna Elegante Patio Door/Starmark Windows
How about some details?
Prices vary from dealer to dealer and no installation is exactly like another. If you are unsure about whether the price is reasonable, then I would suggest you get a few more estimates. That way you won't make the same mistake twice.

Re: Classic Questions - Which Window/Company
Everything expands and contracts, even wood and metal. The question is does it affect performance? Lower grade vinyl windows do become less energy efficient, better grades, not so much. The Pella 350 is a new window for them. I wouldn't be too quick to jump on it as many windows in the past that see...

Re: Classic Questions - Which Window/Company
Most start out, like you, thinking a window is a window. Once they start to understand the differences, they realize there's more to it. When you are considering a purchase that can be very expensive and will be in your home for many years, window and installation quality take on a whole new meaning...

Re: Supporting a large bow window in wall with cathedral ceiling
No, because it's not important that the spacer have similar expansion rates as the extrusions. It's important that it allow for expansion of the glass. That's more a function of design than it is matching materials.

Re: New Pella 350 series Vinyl Windows - any good ?
I know it is mean but I almost want to laugh at Kirill. Something as important as 35 windows in your home and you took a mere few days to make your decision on what will seal your home for the next 20 years? I appologize in advance, but Kirill you deserve exactly what you bought. Some people decide...

Re: Wincore vs. reliabilt
I don't know what you skill level is so I can't tell you if you are capable. Do you plan on capping the exterior with trim coil? If so, have you ever used a Brake? I can tell you we do get calls from time to time from homeowners who decided to replace their own window but discovered it wasn't as eas...
