Re: jantek/appleby windows
This started as a technical discussion about a window design and now the complaint is suddenly retail price. Consumers, do your homework, all window brands and design styles have their pluses and minuses, but in the end look at the certifiable numbers on the NFRC sticker of the window or at NFRC.or...

Re: Ameritech Construction / Oxford Windows
Average numbers at best from the NFRC http://cpd.nfrc.org/search/cpd/cpd_search_detail.aspx?cpdnum=WCI-K-1 Triple pane testing at U-value of 0.27? That is not good. http://cpd.nfrc.org/search/cpd/cpd_search_detail.aspx?cpdnum=WCI-K-6 Double pane barely qualifies and has a fairly low visible light nu...

Re: Ameritech Construction / Oxford Windows
What were the options in that window? I am curious to see what a 1K+ window is like.

Re: Performance Data
The window has a decent amount of weatherstripping but that is not the only reason that it is tight. You sure you are a consumer....  You have an obvious agenda that has been demonstrated in your posts. You haven't taken the advice that has been offered and you seem to have about a mill...

Re: Performance Data
So these sales guys that pull out a 0.04 AI rating and say don't buy the other guy because he has a 0.15 AI rating doesn't hold much water? I know you quantify the ufactor...like 0.16 is amazingly better than 0.35...you could technically est. the $'s you could save my making the upgrade. Not entire...

Re: Anderson vs. Champion vs. Larmco
I was under the impression that Atrium made the Champion Window. I'm not sure but my guess would be that Champion is a marketing scheme run by Atrium. Anyone have any additional information or is my guess correct? http://www.atriumrestructuring.com/pdflib/22_10150.pdf So for the meantime, Champion ...

Re: Wisconsin Window Advice
Nothing on that report lists the air data. Doesn't appear to be an AAMA certified lab either.
I would rather have a lesser DP rating and a more airtight window personally.
Thanks for the report though.

Re: New constuction
If you are looking at anything you should look at the Infinity from Marvin. They offer a new construction window that is hands down better performing than any wood or vinyl. Really? It beats a .16 U-factor, a .01 air infiltration rate and a DP70 like on the Softlite Elements? I wasn't aware it perf...

If only Obama had nominated the wife of Atrium's VP. They would be growing like gangbusters and have a couple of government contracts.

Re: Serious windows on Fox news?
What a scam!!! I love how Obama claims to be the King of Transparency, but he is as backroom as any President and more than most. Do we even know what the cost of the Healthcare Bill is going to be in bribes alone. http://blog.seriousmaterials.com/?p=1007&cpage=1#comment-203 http://apps1.eere.en...

Re: Carefree Brand Windows Warranty: To File A Defects Claim
Lets go ahead and let everyone agree to disagree and I think we can dispatch with the name calling. The installation company was, in all likelihood, not the causer of the glass failure. At an average price of $162/installed, there is zero room built into that price for the company to service the win...

Re: Alside Excalibur & Harvey Classic Quotes
Yes you're correct the "quote" thing did help and what help it was. As for googling reviews of the Excaliburs - I'm a computer geek by proffesion so getting paid for reseaching windows all day certainley would'nt qualify as Brain Surgery - I would have to agree but it's a great place to s...
