Just heard Home Depot just got fined for not following the lead rule. Don't know the amount but know it was a fine not a warning.

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

Here the latest for the EPA. Two links about how they have been educating the public and contractors. They are trying to show that they were and are trying to educate the public and contractors. The second is questions about the RRP rule and answers. Very good information. http://www.epa.gov/lead/pu...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

I asked are rep at Home Depot the other day about the new law and said they really know nothing about it. I figured they would be stocking up on plastic and contractor bags for the rush. The best thing is they passed the law on earth day... Plastic is your friend... I think they would wait un...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

4-weeks ago I was at one of my local supply houses in Delaware. Since they are the largest Certinteed dealer in the area and the fact that they are 1-mile over the bridge from NJ (Delaware has no sales tax), they get a ton of window and siding business from all of the local contractors. No one that...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

Once they cash that $300.00 check I think you are safe even if it takes 90 days... The EPA is making some good money off this rule..... I talked to the California EPA and they said you have to wait until you receive your certified firm number. The certification number is the only way the owne...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

EPA said today that if you filed your application before April 22 it will be reviewed by June. If you have taken the class and applied before April 22 EPA will not take action against you. If you haven't you could be fined. 90 days looks like the norm after filing your application. If you haven't i...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

Here is the most up to date information. EPA eliminates OPT-OUT Provisions. It will take 60 days to put into Federal Registry. This means homeowners can opt-out for the next 60 days after that ANY pre-1978 home that wants work done on the home should hire a certified firm. EPA also is REQUIRING reno...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

From what I am reading the opt out will be available for homes that don't have children under 6 for 60 days. But the firm still needs to be certified to do any work on pre1978 homes even with the opt out.

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

Here is another one from the New Your Times http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/09/health/09lead.html Read the last part of the article. Nice. Got to love the Sierra Club. "Mr. Neltner of the Sierra Club said that homeowners should insist on hiring only certified workers and should report violations...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

I just talked to the California branch of the EPA about it and they haven't heard anything about the opt out being allowed to stay. She told me they have received thousands of phone calls this past month about the new lead rule. She told me they would be setting up stings to catch firms not certifie...

Re: EPA requirements on window installations???

I wouldn't go by that list on EPA's website. We were certified nearly 2 months ago, have had Certification in hand for over 6 weeks and we still aren't listed even though we have made several calls to EPA asking that we be added. I would ask the firm for a copy of their certificate before ruling th...
