Taking a quick look at the rebate details I would say you have a slim to zero chance of seeing any money. You can't file for the rebate till AFTER 4 years of purchasing the product (and before 4 years and one month pass)?

Yes, don't make any remote decision based on this offer.

Re: ?????

The quality will suffer at 400.00 a window in my opinion. 275.00 is just ou tof the question. OUt of the 5 companies that gave us quotes, Home Depot was the highest at around $650 a window. The next highest out of the remaining four was around the $400 range (Harvey Classic double hung, Low E/Argon...

Where do you live? based on a couple of quotes I got in the Lewiston/Auburn area of Maine, those prices seem high to me. We got quotes of $4800 to $5600 on Harvey "Classic" windows installed, for 17 34"x64" and one 50"x64" Home Depot quoted us $11000 on the same windows...

That is what it comes down to in the end, are you happy with the product for the price you paid?

It is Federal money that often goes to paying home heating bills, so the effort for this needs to come from Federal government. Otherwise it is my opinion we are just pissing money away.

Re: Reply

It appears you would object to this bill. I don't understand why. I never said any such thing. However my general knowledge of how the government works always makes me asks questions and to follow the money. What needs to happen is with low income people is the energy audit happens by default when ...

Who will measure the performance gain? An energy auditor? An additional cost now for installing windows. Not to mention how will they address low and fixed income people? These people typically can't afford replacing windows, adding insulation, etc., so we give them handouts to buy for their heating...

I doubt labor is less expensive in ME vs OHIO. Your other quote of $6,800 for 17 windows seems more in line ($400.00 per window). IMO, I still believe paying around $275.00 a window installed........quality is going to suffer. If you believe the installlers are Top-Notch, make sure your are getting...

People I've talked to tried to steer me away from the Excaliber. That said a co-worker has them and likes it. We are going with the Harvey Classic here and is running about $260 per window.

These aren't inexpereinced installers, we found out we knew installer/owner and he has been doing this for 20+ years. He did say he knocked $25 off his regular price. The literature says it has a welded frame and sash. We had Home Depot quote of $10,700, and another contractor just came back with on...

Our most recent quote for windows

A local company quoted us a prive on Harvey windows (double hung, Low e/Argon), 17 of them at 34"x64", and one at 50"x64". Price including installation, removal of old windows, etc., came to $4700. Think we will go with this over Home Depot at $10,700 as they are a local company,...

This is what Harvey had to say: Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Regency Window. This window is manufactured as part of our "private label" program which is offered to a select group of pre-qualified contractors only. The Regency window can be closely compared to our Classic window...

Harvey Classic same as Harvey Regency?

In getting quotes, one place is quoting the "Harvey Regency" window to us. To compare apples to apples, we asked another dealer for a quote on the same window. What he said was the Harvey Regency is the Harvey Classic, but Harvey allows dealers to give it the name of Regency if they only c...
