Re: Pella window - Lowe's or local window company?

I can not find this rule on either board. Links have been very helpful in the past. The recent link by Zipwall was extremely helpful.

There is a rule that states: Do not post phone numbers, e-mail addresses or other PERSONAL information.

We need the board to clarify this rule.

Re: Help with window choosing please!!

It is one of the 7 discussion board rules we all agreed to when we joined this board and its sister board. It would be good for all of us to reread them from time to time. 5. Do not make disparaging comments about other posters or companies. Lets not now nit pick the wording to death. I think we can...

Re: Help with window choosing please!!

Well well so this forum is finally getting a little more interesting for my morning read. I am probably one of the oldest readers on this space. How old? If the words NUSASH and SEASON All are still in your memory........ Whatever happened to the old suggestion that respondents do not bash other com...

Re: Milgard Tuscany vs Simonton 5500

I do not find anything suspect about Milgards lifetime warranty. Last month I sent a service request to the Tualatin factory about a failed unit on a window I installed in 1995. It was replaced by factory service techs within 10 days. No questions asked. I am curious to know if other owner/installer...

Re: LBL vs Milgard Tuscany?

Milgard selects its dealers very carefully and they must meet several criteria including a showroom. They must also attend factory training seminars twice a year. They do not tolerate high pressure sales tactics from their dealers. LBL lets anyone sell anyway they choose.

Re: Empire Pacific vs Plygem ... any thoughts?

Both Simonton or Milgard will serve you well. We are longtime Milgard dealers because all service is direct from the factory and not the dealer. Lifetime warranty includes glass breakage and screen repairs and is transferable to new owners. These features help make the majority of our sales coming f...

Re: Empire Pacific vs Plygem ... any thoughts?

Your contractor is giving you correct advice. PlyGem is the new owner of Certainteed in Washington and Empire here in Oregon just changed ownership. No window is going to meet your dog requirements. There are plenty of other windows to look at. The heat lamp is a sure sign of a commission driven dir...

Re: Milgard vs. Weathervane window - south exposure in Seattle

Both are local. Weathervane is a break off from Milgard. Price is a good indicator of their respective quality.

Re: Milgard

Be sure you are getting the Classic series with the Tuscany warranty and why not upgrade to the 3DMAX energy package and get the $75 rebate.

Re: Polybau windows and All Brand Windows out of business? Calif

Not surprised by this info. Old timers on this board will remember that this window was promoted as the Schuco for the west coast. Another european overpriced window not suitable for the California market and a product that was promoted by hungry commision driven sales organizations with no regard t...

Re: Retrofit Window - Repair?

Another suggestion if you are not replacing the window or selling the home is to go to a place that sells vinyl fencing. They have a glue that is made for gluing vinyl to vinyl. I used it on our vinyl picket fence and it works great, sets up faster than silicone.

Re: anyone know about Simonton 7500 series

You will not find many participants in this forum from the west coast. Most of the discussion is from the midwest and eastcoast talking and giving their opinions endlessly about windows that are not available here. In your search of the forum you have probably already found that the Simonton window ...

Re: Replacement Windows in North East

You could work with your Pella sales person and get him to put it in writing, but he is probably off the hook since the vice president of Pella has published the following disclaimer on their web page devoted to promoting the federal tax rebate: Pella Corporation and its sales partners assume no lia...

If you want to take advantage of the $1500. federal tax rebate you will have to remove Pella with insert screens from your list.

Re: Simonton 7500 vs Milgard Tuscany

EIFS has a bad history here in the west. You need to study the Milgard warranty very carefully as there are exclusions for EIFS without the properly installed drainage systems.
