Re: Simonton 5500, Gorell 5100 or Alside 8000 in Boston

Simonton and Gorell are both nice products and far superior to the Alside in all objective and subjective categories. ... Between the two, I like Gorell, but you could probably survey 10 window guys and they'd split down the middle.

Re: Okna 400/500 vs Alside UltraMaxx vs. Thermal Industries

For quality and effieciency: Okna, TI, then Alside. In that order.

Re: Gorell 5100 from Rite Window vs Pella Thermostar

What if you could buy a Lexus for $500 more than a Kia???? That may sound extreme, but the quality difference between the two windows is extreme. Gorell by a mile.

Re: Alside Ultramaxx TG2

Good sales trick, mediocre product. Any piece of glass with low-e will feel the same. The numbers that WOW mentioned are the only true measures of performance... That being said, there are some intangible measures such as quality control, customer service, durability, etc, that may or may not be acc...

Re: Alside Ultramaxx TG2

Homesealed, what other windows would you recommend in the range I am looking. $450 per window installed is the quote I have and that is for 20 windows, triple pane, gas filled for the Ultramaxx. Plus I get the tax credit that will make the price a little better. Open to options. Doug You can find a...

Re: New Windows

Which line?... Some are better than others. Overall, I think its a decent product. Could do worse, could do better, but they aren't bad imo at a low-midrange price point.

That is a pretty aggressive price as well.

Re: Alside Ultramaxx TG2

Alside is probably the most common "reviewed" product on this forum, and I'm still waiting to see something positive. When compared to other windows with similar options, it is pretty mediocre(at best) in every regard.

Re: Harvey Tribute vs. Gorell and/or Okna?

The Harvey window is not bad, but I'd put the Gorell and Okna options as better... When choosing a competent installation company, most choose high-quality products that are somewhat less common. They sacrifice a "cheaper" price for superior quality, service, and "exclusivity". I...
