I have fourteen aluminum framed 3' x 5' that are 25 y/o. I live in a hurricane prone region of FL within 2500' of the coast, so I am looking to upgrade my windows or go w/ permanently attached shutters. I would qualify for a several hunded dollar per yr H/O discount w/ either system, but I would gain some energy savings w/ the upgraded windows. The quote for board & batten shutter was about $9K. What might I expect to pay for the Alside windows? I have heard the generic figure of $65/ft2 tossed about when discussing hurricane impact resistant windows.
