We have been doing research for replacement windows. We have received 3 bids so far.
1. T.H.E. Window Company (Alum. Windows with Thermal Break)
2. Sunrise (Vinyl)
3. Weathergard (Vinyl)
Does anyone have any opinions on any of these windows.
Sunrise was the only one that wasn't "high pressure" sales.
Window shopping in Michigan
I don't know anything about the particular brands you are looking at, however, as someone who offers a thermally broken aluminum window, I would never consider them if I lived in Michigan.
The big drawback to thermally broken aluminum is the U-Factor, which is much higher, and therefore, much less efficient during winter months.
Here in Houston, thermally broken aluminum is a good option, because our heating bills are nothing compared to our cooling bills, and since our extreme heat can cause cheaper vinyl windows to bow and warp.
IMO you should stick with vinyl. Maybe look at the Schuco Corona 4000, or the Simonton 9800. Triple pane units, if affordable to you, would serve you well.
