Contractor #1 is getting $875 a window for the Jeld-Wen Siteline EX New Construction Window, with grids.
Contractor #2 is getting $1000 a window for the Soft-Lite Imperial LS windows, with grids.
Both prices include removal of my old windows, and replacing with new.
I really want contractor #1 to do the job as their references and presentation were better. I am thinking if I can get contractor #1 to install the Soft-Lites for about $100 more per window, that would be fair.
I don't understand how window companies will only sell to certain people. So if I wanted to replace 30 windows in my house with Soft-lites, and do the work myself, Soft-Lite would tell me they can't sell me the windows? Seems like poor business to me. But I guess that's why I am not an expert on windows, and why I am on this forum.

You might be able to find an Elements or LS dealer that would sell you the product for DIY.

You can usually find the Imperial LS in some building supply programs as well.
I guarantee you will be able to find someone that will deal direct.
