Okna Versus Provia Endure Sliding Patio Door and Casement Window

#1 Post by nancezhong »

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my patio sliding door and casement window, and I'm torn between Okna and Provia options. Specifically, I'm looking at the Okna 8800 3-panel sliding patio door compared to the Provia Endure 2-Lite, as well as considering the Okna 700 series casement window versus the Provia Endure. I'm based in NJ and would really value any insights or recommendations.

Patio Sliding Door:

Okna 8800 3-Panel Sliding Door:
U-Factor: 0.27
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): 0.27
Visible Transmittance: 0.49
Condensation Resistance: 63
Air Infiltration: 0.06 cfm/ft³

Provia Endure 2-Lite:
U-Factor: 0.28
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): 0.21
Visible Transmittance: 0.46
Condensation Resistance: 60.00
Air Infiltration: ≤ 0.3 cfm/ft²

Casement Window:

Okna 700 Series Casement:
U-Factor: 0.27
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): 0.31
Visible Transmittance: 0.57
Condensation Resistance: 63.00
Air Infiltration: 0.01 cfm/ft²

Provia Endure Casement:
U-Factor: 0.25
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): 0.21
Visible Transmittance: 0.46
Condensation Resistance: 60.00
Air Infiltration: 0.02 cfm/ft²

You have the U-Value backwards. Okna casements are a U-Value of .25.
Okna make a better casement and its a step above provia.
How are you comparing a 3 lite patio door to a 2 lite? That seens incorrect.
Where in new jersey are you?

These products aren't very comparable, the Okna is top tier along with other like Softlite, Sunrise, etc. The Provia line is not in the same category.

I do both of those manufacturers and series and much prefer the OKNA. Here is why. ProVia casements, awnings, and picture windows have very odd frames with pocket irrigation sills that have exterior weeps and little cheap baffle door flaps. That doesn't even make a bit of sense. They are very fussy to square and get the sashes not hitting the strike side bottom of the frame which causes sealing and locking problems Way too much weld flash holding there bulb weatherstripping in place. The ProVia door is equally as fussy and is a much older design platform from their windows. The top screen system is nice being top hung, but overly complicated and miserable to fine tune. I think the OKNA Elegante operates nicer and less problematic.
