ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!! Do not buy Hurd windows. I bought 900 series for new construction. To start things off, they delivered several weeks late and then tried to raise the price on me. Then I found tons of manufacturing flaws. The worst was when I moved in 3 of the windows had to be opened with a prybar because they assembled the locking mechanism wrong. When I tried to contact Hurd, I got bounced to about 6 different people in 2 states and they tried to blame the installation, said that I wasn't cooperating, etc. Horrible customer service. It took me about 8 months to get all of the problems fixed.

BAD QUALITY and POOR MANUFACTURED PRODUCT!! Do not consider to buy Hurd windows. I just move in my new construction ( Dec 2007 ) and have 40 + clad casement windows and few doors. I found tons of manufacturing mistakes. Frost bites inside glass panels, misalignment on 60 % of the windows, missing weather strips ( doors and windows ), scratched glass ( inside and outside ), broken operating mechanisam etc. Did call for service - provided by local supplier ( who is also selling other windows brands ) - no clue how to resolve all those issues. HURD customer service is very experienced with similar situation and guess what is their position : "blaming" all others around beside very obvious and known problems with - poor quality of manufacturing and assembly process. All together a BIG MISTAKE. I am now working with all kind of solutions to REPAIR new windows and doors instead enjoying in my new house . DISSASTER !! I was comparing HURD with other suppliers and for few bucks of price difference I made a huge mistake buying HURD product. WARRNING : Please review your decision before ordering HURD product . The worst part of the story was when I moved in ( Dec 2007 winter storm following week ) few of the windows had 1/4" inch gaps between window pannel and window frame. Hurd customer service first respond was - to blame the installation, humidity or something else without listening to their own representative service report. Four month after I am still waiting for service / repair / adjustment/ replacement service . CONCLUSION : AVOID this product 100 %

Hurd window and door company creates design failure into their products and does not take responsibility for product failure. They, instead, change their name and company structure to aviod lawsuits. See www.hurd-window.com for one presentaion on leaking Hurd windows.

Hurd Windows installed throught house. About 40% of all the windows have failed with moisture and fogging within the double pane. Customer service will not offer any help. Replacements will cost thousands. Are there any ideas out there to get Hurd to take responsibility, class action?

After reading other reviews I have to comment. My 2006 new construction also included HURD windows. I have had ice on the inside both winters and have received terrible customer service from the distributer. In addition, the noise infiltration is terrible, sometimes thinking the window is open when it is not. I would not recommend this product.

Hurd windows are a piece of junk, don't waste your money.I have had problems with double hung and casement windows fogging and staining between the glass, condensation and icing in the winter, reps say it is due to high humidity, not window leakage, BALONY. Should have stayed with Andersen Windows.

We received clad doors and windows from Hurd and the quality was extremely poor. Some door panels were received without the external bars, the internal grille for the SDL rattles and the transoms leaked like a seive! When it rained it was like a waterfall inside. To be fair, the casement windows work fine. To make matters worse, Hurd offered NO help what-so-ever to get the problems fixed. Hurd is in it for the money, quality is not their priority.

I have Hurd casement windows in our home. They were put in about 13 years ago. When we moved in over 7 years ago during our 1st winter in the home. The inside pane of 1 imploded, then a few weeks later, another inside window pane imploded (in our baby's room.) The next year, another one. Then no problems for 4 years. Last year another one imploded. And this year, so far 2 more. I've contacted Hurd and they won't respond. I wrote a blog about their POS windows and sent it to them. No response yet. STAY AWAY from HURD, you have been warned.

I have had five large (27x55 pane) 3-pane casement windows installed about 15 years ago.(27x55 pane). However in that time I have had to replace six sashes at ever increasing costs ranging from $100 + each to now $400 + each. Problem has been with seal leaking and causing condensation and fogging between the panes. I would not recommend Hurd windows to anyone. Never had to perform this type of replacement with my Anderson windows which ar much older.

We built in 2001. Wish this website was here then, maybe we could have saved some people from this big mistake! We have DH windows and in winter we have ice buildup on the INSIDE of the windows. One was so bad it pulled the window frame apart where u could put your finger thru. Most of the windows are turning black in areas. The installer did a great job but he wasn't connected with Hurd. Terrible windows. Called them and they replaced seal, didn't help. We have had no further contact with Hurd. They said all problems have been caused by "us". Ha ha

I purchased Hurd windows 14 years ago and finally have the money to replace them. The first year they were installed many of them leaked air through the sash and windows themselves. I called the company that sold them, Crawford and Brinkman, and was directed to the regional rep of Hurd. They first tried to blame the installer until they came out and found the windows were installed correctly. One of the tech's that came out said they had a few batches that came out that were bad. To make a long story short we were given storm windows at cost and told we just lived in a "very windy area" and there was nothing else they could do. It will be nice not having to put plastic on the insides of my windows any longer when we replace them with Anderson or Pella.

Live in So California. Condensation throughout a full panel of French doors. Called customer service after reading their one page on condensation - "good luck - have someone the replace the window panes" I would never buy these windows again. One set came manufactured completely upside down - great quality control!!!. 8 of the windows have wharped in the frame - and they're closed most of the year! DON"T BUY HURD WINDOWS - they're a poor product

I purchased a Hurd all wood, full glass unit for my home. HORRIBLE quality of both the door unit and the jamb unit..... poor dimensions, poor margins, poorly installed hardware. The door was unusable without being fully rehung, and reinstalled in a new jamb set with no compensation for the labor necessary. Hurd has basically no quality control initially, no warranty after, and will at most furnish only replacement parts.....Even for brand new units!

Window Grade: 1.0
Price Information

I specifically mentioned Anderson, Pella, and Marvin as quality level comparisons when I was shopping Hurd windows with their local dealer (Oregon, OH.). I was assured that the Hurd door unit I was purchasing was the equivalent in quality (and it definitely was in price at $1600). Unfortunately for me, I discovered that a HURD unit is the equivalent of only the most basic generic big box unit....... but at the price of a quality unit.

BUYER BEWARE OF WARRANTY------BEWARE---- CANT STATE THAT ENOUGH BUYER BEWARE............. Our entire house has Hurd window replacements since 2009. Just a year ago one of the windows broke its seal and became foggy. We contacted the company we purchased them from and they contacted Hurd for us. (Hurd has been sold and repurchased several times. Thru court litigation Hurd has decided to honor as far back as 2007) Hurd wanted the number etched on the window as proof that is when the window was manufactured and we provided that proof.

Nothing more frustrating than having windows that develop fog between the panes. Especially when it doesn't appear the day you make the installer take a look! Great info from WoW.
