Re: Would Appreciate Gorell Update
Interesting. There were not softlite dealers in my area when I purchased my windows. There was a couple of companies that had Gorell, which is why I went with that particular brand in November 2011. The installing company told me that they offer a warranty on my windows. According to my paperwork it...

Re: Would Appreciate Gorell Update
This is bad news. I have heard about this and am concerned that Soft-Lite is not going to be honoring warranties on past Gorell products. Apparently they are only buying the assets and not the liabilities in this case. I know of a past Gorell dealer than is doing close to $100,000 in business with ...

Re: Would Appreciate Gorell Update
Here is what I found on the Gorell website: For products sold prior to February 14, 2012, there is no warranty. Please contact the dealer you purchased the product from for help. If your dealer is no longer in business or does not support Soft-Lite Gorell LLC, replacement parts may or may not (very ...

Gorell Replacement Window Warranty Update - Dealers
Hello, I had Gorell windows replaced in my home November 2011. While reading this board in the first few months of 2012, I read where Gorell was being sold. I see recent questions on the message board about Gorell windows. Could someone please give me an update on this company? I was a bit worried a...

Re: Installing in rain
I never tipped any crew that worked on my house before. But if they hadn't yet finished the work by lunch time, I always treated them lunch to show my appreciation. Dave, I will do the same to your crew. I thought about giving them lunch, but then I thought, what would they like better: lunch or mo...

Re: Who to pick???
I learned much from the website. When I contacted the first company (name was given to me by a co-worker who used them last year), they only sold Anderson SIlverline. I was very happy with the quote that I received (was $1500 less than my top of my budget of $4000). That evening, I googled "And...

Gorell WIndows are Installed
I love them! Thank you for all of your input. I am so happy I spent the extra money and went with Gorell instead of Anderson Silverline. The installers also told me that they were a much better window and their warranty was excellent. They told me exactly what y'all said: that the Silverline window ...

Re: Installing in rain
On the tip, it isn't customary to have to do so, but it is always a nice bonus for the installers. I'd suggest giving it to them around lunch time as opposed to the end of the job, that way they may give a little extra attention to the details. :D Thanks for the heads up. I read your post when they...

Installing in rain
I got the call yesterday that the Gorell windows could be installed today (which is good because I have today off), but it's raining. Can windows be installed in the rain? Two of my windows are in a screened in porch and one is under the covering of my front porch. The rest are under the overhang of...

Re: Decided on Gorell
All the above you just wrote would be a comfort to me as a consumer. The company is definitely not in financial straights as they didn't run to the bank to cash the check. Don't get me wrong, if they did cash the check the same day that doesn't mean anything is wrong at all, but the fact they waite...

Re: Decided on Gorell
Thanks for the information. They didn't cash my deposit check for 10 days after I signed the contract, which makes me think that they didn't order the windows until then. I was told that the owner of the company double checks the order, and I think they were filing a permit. I was really hoping to g...

Re: Decided on Gorell
It's been two weeks since I signed the contract. They told me it would take 4-5 weeks, and I am getting impatient to see what the windows will look like in my home. (I am getting new blinds, and can't have them come out to measure until the windows are in. Then that will take 4 weeks to manufacture,...

Re: Double Hung Gorell with half screen
Thank you for all of your replies. I will stay with the half screen. I hope the top venting feature will be OK. Otherwise, I'll just use it on the windows that face out to the screened-in porch.
Florida is too buggy to have the windows open without screens in place.
