Re: What is a HD 6500 window?
Not trying to give you a hard time but, why would you sign a contract without knowing what you are getting? Have you done any research on windows? The HD 6500 is the same window as the Simonton Reflections 5500 which is nearly the same window as the Prism Platinum. I would suggest getting a few esti...

Re: Alside Thermalmaxx model 0200 (Excalibur) windows
I bought from my neighbor that works for them. They were right in line on price with the other companies that I looked at over a couple years of searching. Again, I am happy with what I have. My energy bills dropped about 30% and they look and function well. Like I said, I know others that have the...

Re: Alside Thermalmaxx model 0200 (Excalibur) windows
Really? Saying something positive about a company that did a good job is spam? So this is a whiner's only site? I feel bad for anyone who reads what you write if that is all this site is good for. Actually, this site is here to help people BEFORE they make a decision on replacement windows. Most of...

Re: A window dealer is insisting that I not get a window with Ar
I don't know anything about Nationwide. I tried to look them up on the NFRC site and there is no listing. Do they make their own window or is it a re-brand?

Re: DIY Lessons Learned from installing 26 - Simonton windows
iirc the OP lives in the Austin Tx. area so the recommended glass package would have been something with 366 glass. Since Simontons basic glass package with 366 glass is ETC Starter, the only upgrade using 366 glass would have been from the 3/4" IGU with Supercept included with the ETC Starter ...

Re: DIY Lessons Learned from installing 26 - Simonton windows
I'm very aware that a homeowner isn't required to test for lead paint or to follow RRP guidelines when doing the work themselves. However, when evaluating the value of doing this oneself as opposed to hiring a contractor, the additional cost of lead paint containment in the contractors bid is worth ...

Re: DIY Lessons Learned from installing 26 - Simonton windows
Great story. Thank you for sharing it. I have 2 questions.
Did you test your house for lead paint?
Do you plan on renting a brake and capping the exterior?
