Hi there. Maybe I should approach the question differently, since the Sheffield is in many regards even wider than what I already consider wide (especially at the bottom): (1) Is there a good DP vinyl replacement window with a frame as narrow as that of the Excalibur? That's what I am trying to fin...

Re: Casement or Slider?
I have a side-by-side casement above my kitchen sink with 2 operating windows. North facing window in Western NY, 1 mile from the shores of Lake Ontario. What are the pro and cons regarding replacing it with a slider? If it matters, my wife and I are both about 5'4" and we can just reach the l...

I have not used them personally but I have heard horror stories. Good luck and get Accuweld involved.

I listed my criteria in my first post. I assume the ThermaStar's meet those. What would be a better options for my criteria and around the same price as the ThermaStars? There are other windows out there that fit that same criteria but I gues the Thermastars are okay. Heck, you can say that you put...

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I was told that Alside has a really good warranty, and stand by their product - but they are one of the few companies that sell exclusively to contractors (from what I understand, their warranty is still direct from the factory, not reliant on the contractor that did...

Re: Just too &^%$ thick!
Well, I've searched and read a number of posts here on the topic, but now that I have seen some of these windows in the size we're looking for at a couple showrooms, the frame thickness is really bothering me. We have primarily DH in a small 1280 sqft cape cod, and they are all around 53h x 32w. We...

There are some fairly specific guidelines and protocols for painting vinyl. Next question, why would you want to?Mr Steve wrote:Can you paint virgin vinyl windows? Planning to use Behr Premium Plus Ultra...the new technology with nanoguard?

I don't think that $500.00 per window is unreasonable, especially for triple pane. Are they low Krypton filled? It wouldn't hurt to get some more estimates. If you don't find something comparable or better for less, keep the contracted windows and be done with it. Good luck I think he was referring...

Re: Extreme, Ideal or Alside Ultramax?? help
I am in New york & I have 3 contractor quotes for siding, roof & windows. The only difference in the quotes is the windows they offer. I am looking for a low U value window with good construction. I have been quoted the Extreme Focus Point 2700 (per salesman .27 U value), Ideal custom weld ...

Some vinyl windows may become distorted, warped, or bow in heat that high. You may want to look at a Fiberglass window or wood w/ aluminum cladding window, that has a good glass package. Typical heat of distortion temperature for vinyl windows is over 160 degrees. You should be fine. You should see...

12 simonton 7500s for $7500? i've bought nothing but marvin's for my home, but the above would be vinyl replacements for another ... shop around? If that window is loaded and a metal out, that price sounds okay. If it is a wood window removal and basic low-e argon and grids, sounds a touch high. Mo...
