After thinking about it, the last service call I had on a balancer was about 10 years ago and the factory sent me a new one for a very large double hung that needed a stronger unit. Window4U is right it has become a non issue. The constant force is best for longivity, and the block and tackle maybe ...

INLINE FIBERGLASS

Anyone not familiar with the company will enjoy speaking to the owner George Casselman (I hope that's spelled correctly) as he is quite learned about this industry. Recently I spoke with him about the things I didn't like about the current fiberglass products. Cosmetics and test numbers are my gripe...

Your correct it is bait and switch. I have written our Attorney General and dept of consumer affairs, that was in October. I got a form to fill out and send back and felt it was like conversing with a tree. I should pursue it, in fact I will today. We've got about sixty windows in the warehouse to i...

Thanks, buddy110 and JScott. We've sold a number of real oak interiors and maybe I'm to fussy but I cannot like the welds and how they cover. One of our vendors routed out the weld areas very carefully as an experiment (looked like shadow grooving) and filled with a easily stained putty. Will it loo...

In reference to a remark that Simonton's warranty is superior to Milgards. NOT, we recently had our sales rep give us the big speel about selling more Milgards and last Monday put in a house full of Tuscany's. Two of the windows had defective tilt latches so we put the warranty to test. I called cus...

Now don't get me wrong, but INTEGRITY & HONESTY are not synoymous with most of this industry. Case in point a recent Renewal advertisement stating they were the first and only GREEN CERTIFIED replacement window in the USA. Now is that a crock, but can you imagine what it did for sales. Marketing...

Questions for the pro's about Okna windows

I have not seen the window and am curious about the welds. Kolbe & Kolbe had a factory store here in Wisconsin and their premium window was cellular pvc. Their welds however were not much better than regular vinyl and could not be covered that well. So if you use the real oak interior it usually...

Notice the post prior to this one about the Alside products, granted there are some issues, but I noticed in this thread a concern about price. Revere is Alside and while price is always an issue, here in the North warmth should be a larger issue. I won't advocate any particular mfrg but a total win...

If you consider the windows are sliders and no high performance glass they should feel cold at -5 because the glass temp is getting pretty close to the freezing mark. The advantage to the Excalibur is narrower frames, and at that size frame they will feel a little flimsy and will let in a little mor...

Measuring is the only chore that's more difficult, as I can foam an opening faster than stuffing fiberglass. We try and make the window 3/8" less in width and a quarter on the heigth. It's not fun trying to get that little nozzle in a 1/8" space and see what your doing. For fun set a windo...
