That is unfortunate. Milgard's rep in my area is on top of things and a treat to deal with. In Milgard's defense, they are new to this market and as such I know are dealing with some growing pains. They have been open in Fredricksburg for about 6 years. I'd hardly consider that "new to the mar...

Gre the Elements they want 7900 for 8 windows and honestly they are out of our budget range for the TH. I am going with the LS windows unit installed for 4150. Also I want to mention I am throughly unimpressed with Milgard. I called them again and they don't return phone calls to the pricing guru, ...

My understanding of NFRC is that a window is sent to them to be tested from a window manufacture. Therefore they test it and put in there results. No window is filled to 100% with gas to my knowledge. There is a test that is and can be done to find out the gas fill rate. The air infilitration rate ...

Re: If money is no object

You also might want to ad window type to that discussion. I would opt for all casements or French swing windows where space allowed. Much more efficient and more ventilation when you want it. Best of both worlds.

Window4U is correct within regards to the line availability. The Elements window line, as it was explained to me, is only reserved for people that were originally going to deal in Soft-Lite exclusively. I carry the Imperial LS and Barrington. The Barrington is the lesser of the two models but still ...

Correct. You are not supposed to be charging tax on the labor. Tax is technically supposed to be collected on a retail transaction and as such, most window companies do not collect it because the window installation is billed as a complete service. That and the fact that Soft-lite charges the dealer...

The elements is being discountinued in december I think they told us. The company is out of Cleveland and have opened a store in Maryland. They are on the Softlite website as a approved vendor, I asked for their "A" team. **********the above was a misunderstanding*********** Element windo...

Ok wise guys...... Unfortunatley it would be unethical for me to be involved with the financial reward I would so deserve. We can recommend but not accept monies from either party as that would be construed as being impartial. I have Gutter guy that does fantastic work he did my home for a gr...

Take the Imperial LS deal. Get the dealer to agree to pay you a $100 referral fee for every one of the 40 "pre-closed" sales that you can give him when completes those jobs and your windows will be paid for!!!! Heck, why not go to work for the dealer and get a commission on all 40 pre-clo...

Re: Vinyl Window, expansion/contraction

I am considering buying vinyl windows but I have run across several sites that refer to the undesirable quality of vinyl, that of expanding/contracting 7 times more than a wood window thereby eventually causing cracks and leaks in the window system. My question is has this problem been solved by th...

Re: Discoloration between double panes

It's taken a while to get back to this because I have been looking for serial numbers which I have not been able to find on any of my 14 windows. The condensation is definitely between the panes. No doubt!!!! The other discoloration is either mold or rust (?). Depending on the amount of sunlight it...

Re: Schuco - Ideal additional questions

Is the Schuco triple pane window in MD overkill? I understand the quote for $5300 for Double-hung (under 100 UI) was/is a good quote. This is for simulated wood-grain. Do you think this too good to be true? I was given the following quote for Ideal Windows. Fair? Ideal 4500, Low-e/argon, foam fille...

Re: Cost of buying/installing Imperial LS Windows

I live in MA and am cosidering the Imperial LS window. I have 19 windows to replace and I was wondering what is a reasonable price to charge. The window sizes are as follows: 11 33"x 63" 8 31"x 63" I believe the window is only being handled by one company in the area making it a...

Re: Softlite?

You are probably on track. I would stay away from someone that raised the prices on me. Barrington is one of my favorite windows to install. Great price and window is hard to beat for the money. Gas does not leak through the glass. If it is lost, it is lost through the spacer seal. That heat somethi...

Thanks Shamu... When you say narrower, by how much would you say - 1/2 inch - less? more? I didn't know they had an Imperial and an Imperial LS. I only saw the LS on their website (I think - I'll have to check again)... Yes, I just checked and don't see just the 'Imperial'. Which leads me to one mo...
