Replacement Windows in Minnesota

#1 Post by sheri_b »

We are looking at having 12 windows replaced in our home – we live in Minnesota. House is about 30 years old, looking at replacing all widows with sliders.

So far we have gotten bids from Soft-lite, Renewal by Anderson, and Champion. Soft-lite and Champion are approximately the same cost; Renewal is about $2,500 more than the other 2. We like the look and feel of the Renewal windows the best, but are concerned with which window is the most efficient. We don’t want to spend more money on a lesser window.

We are also concerned about warranty – which company will stand behind the product when there are problems. Both Renewal and Champion use their own contractors, so there is not the issue of blame game when problems arrive (manufacture blames contractor, vice versa) – hopefully.

So questions are
– What experience has anyone had with Soft-lite, Champion or Renewal?
– Is there really anyway to know which window is “best”?
– Are there other companies we should be considering?
