We were just quoted 2 separate bids for replacement windows that are 400 bucks in difference. Which is a better window for our 1927 midwest home where winter months are long. I'm swayed towards the Okna window because it is a narrow window style, not so bulky. BUT the Barrington I read has a sash reinforcement. Thoughts?

Quote two: 25 soft lite Barrington, double hung replacement, cocoa color, piano grid bars on all 25, full screens on 11 and half screens on 14. 25 windows total=$16,590
Quote 3: all same as above quotes but brand of window is Sunrise Window

They Okna 800 is in another class. Its best of this group. IF the Sunrise is the Retstorations then it is a close second, and in the top group. The Barrington is not a bad window, but a major step down. The Sunrise if the base model, is again, not bad, but still a B+ compared to A+. U factor and air infiltration ratings will show the diferences

The top options from each company are comparable: Elements by Softlite, Okna 800, and Restorations by Sunrise. The next tier is the Imperial LS by softlite, 500 by okna, and Vanguard by Sunrise. Again, comparable... In this comparison, the Okna seems like a slam dunk give the very close price between it and the Barrington which is more of an entry level offering. The variable here would be the exact line and price of the Sunrise option.... and that's with all else being equal. Installation quality and the company backing it up should always be given sufficient weight.

The Okna 800 is a top window while the soft light barrington is soft lite's " budget series".
The sash reinforcement is metal which isnt a good material due to it being highly conductive.
That is why the Okna 800 uses a composite ( non metal) reinforcement bar. In fact, soft lites upper end window ( Elements) uses a composite reinforcement as well.
To me, its an easy choice, the okna 800. Its built and designed better. A better comparison would be the okna 800 and soft lite elements.

Thank YOU for the replies. We've decided to go with the Okna windows.
